Abstract

Silver nanoparticles capped by poly(vinyl alcohol) (AgNP@PVA) was prepared by reduction of AgNO3 in aqueous solution of PVA with the help of catalytic amount of tyrosine as reducing agent, under ultrasonic irradiation. Then,AgNP@PVA were embedded into the l-leucine containing poly(amide-imide) (PAI) matrix via sonication technique to prepare a completely green and environmentally friendly PAI/AgNP@PVA nanocomposites (NCs). The formation of PAI/AgNP@PVA NCs was confirmed by ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, and Fourier transform infrared techniques. The morphology and thermal stability of the hybrid NCs were examined by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. The FE-SEM micrographs of PAI/AgNP@PVA NCs showed that AgNP@PVA were well dispersed in the polymer matrix, because Ag NPs had outstanding adhesion and strong interfacial bonding with PAI.
